Our Community
For Terrence and Torry Holt, success is not just measured by a company’s profitability. It’s equally measured by the impact they make on their communities. The Holt Brothers are dedicated to community development and giving back. They played a key role in establishing the Southeast Raleigh YMCA campus and supported various organizations, including Band Together and The Boys & Girls Club of Durham.
They also give back to their alma mater, NC State, through a $100,000 scholarship for student-athletes and provide scholarships for minority students at Wake Tech. Their dedication also extends to families affected by cancer through the Holt Brothers Foundation, which offers emotional support programs for children and partners with Camp Kesem to provide a summer camp experience for kids impacted by cancer.
Enhanced Local Communities
Torry Holt’s involvement in the Capital Campaign for the Southeast Raleigh YMCA helped bring to life a “purpose-built” campus that now includes a YMCA, affordable housing, a middle school, and retail spaces. Holt Brothers Construction contributed significantly to this project, exemplifying their commitment to community development. In addition, Terrence Holt serves on the Durham Sports Commission, lending his expertise and passion to the local sports community.
Giving Back To Their Alma Mater
The Holt Brothers maintain strong ties with NC State University, where they were standout football players. They have established a $100,000 scholarship endowment for football student-athletes, ensuring future generations can benefit from the same opportunities they had. As proud ambassadors of NC State, they continue to give their time and resources to support the school that shaped their careers.
Building the Future Through Education
Through Holt Brothers Construction, the brothers also support Wake Tech with scholarships for minority students studying construction management at the Vernon Malone College & Career Academy. They focus on creating pathways for underrepresented students to excel in the construction industry, reflecting their broader commitment to education and workforce development.
Supporting Families Affected by Cancer
The Holt Brothers understand firsthand the emotional toll cancer can take on families. After losing their mother to the disease, they knew they wanted to do more. In 2000, they founded the Holt Brothers Foundation, creating programs to support children dealing with a parent’s cancer diagnosis. Their KidsCan! Programs at local hospitals offer critical emotional support to these children, helping them navigate such a challenging time. Additionally, their partnership with Camp Kesem provides kids aged 6 to 16 the opportunity to enjoy a week of summer camp, giving them a much-needed escape and the chance to be kids.
Extending Their Impact
The Holt Brothers’ generosity reaches many organizations, including Band Together, the Salvation Army, The Boys & Girls Club of Durham, and Communities in Schools of North Carolina. They also support the American Heart Association, Meredith Autism Program, and several local schools and parks, demonstrating their ongoing investment in community well-being.
