NC Freedom Park in Raleigh, North Carolina, is an award-winning, transformative public space dedicated to celebrating the African American experience and the enduring quest for freedom and equality.
Located in the heart of Raleigh, the park features the Freedom Ring, a striking 50-foot tall bronze structure symbolizing resilience and unity. Storytelling Walls throughout the park showcase narratives of African American history and culture through interactive displays, historical photographs, and personal stories, providing an immersive educational experience.
A serene Reflection Pool offers a tranquil space for contemplation and honoring sacrifices made in the pursuit of freedom. The park will host a variety of educational programs, including lectures, workshops, and performances, to engage the community and promote a deeper understanding of African American history.
Rotating art installations by local and national African American artists reflect themes of freedom, justice, and equality, adding a dynamic cultural dimension to the park while the community spaces are designed for gatherings, picnics, and recreation fostering community engagement and a welcoming environment for all ages.
