- Market: Government/Public
- Repeat Client
Project Overview
The renovation and expansion project for the North Carolina Museum of History involved updating and enlarging the current 199,642 SF building, originally constructed in 1992. Phase I includes renovating and expanding the existing museum, while Phase II involves constructing a new addition and a below-grade parking deck to the east of the museum.
The new building, Phase 2, will offer 190,000 SF of gallery space, educational facilities, a new auditorium, support services, a restaurant, and a conference center. A pedestrian bridge will span Wilmington Street, connecting the new addition to the existing museum structure. The remainder of the site will feature a below-grade parking structure, outdoor interpretive activities, and a new drop-off area for students and other groups visiting the museum regularly.
